
Addressing high dropout rate in government schools
Child education serves as a crucial preventive measure against vulnerable children disengaging from mainstream educational systems. Our initiative focuses on empowering these children by helping them recognize their potential and connecting them with opportunities through our established partnerships. Originating in 2011, this program emerged from a pressing necessity to sever the entrenched link between activities like loitering, ragpicking, and begging, and the subsequent involvement of out-of-school street children in criminal behaviors such as drug trafficking, abuse, theft, child labor, and other societal ills. Initially concentrated at the primary school level, the project has since expanded to include a remedial component, ensuring a seamless continuation of schooling for these children.
Our Solution
With a broader aim of crime prevention, the project remains dedicated to tackling the pressing issue of high dropout rates, which represents a critical concern in government schools. It’s undeniable that premature school leaving correlates directly with an escalation in deviant and delinquent behavior among children, who often possess lower educational achievements. Consequently, the current project focuses on reinforcing students’ understanding within schools, significantly reducing the likelihood of dropout due to poor academic performance and waning interest in education.
Moreover, the project endeavors to foster the holistic development of children by providing a comprehensive array of activities as part of a personal development program. These activities encompass nutrition support, arts and crafts, music, value education sessions, and exposure opportunities. A structured system for monitoring each child’s learning progress and health status is integral to the project’s methodology.
